Asteroids clone added to the arcade! E-mail

Asteroids game I dropped in a new game today... about time, I know.  Now you can find a fantastic clone of the classic arcade game Asteroids , made by the folks at Neave.com.  I don't know much else to say since this is just a very good, if basic, clone of Asteroids.  Give it a whirl to see what you think.

High scores working now!!  Woot!  Merry Christmas!  :)

Child's Play Charity deserves your money E-mail
Flash Game Post News - Site News
Tuesday, 13 December 2005

You know your money is well spent sent off to various charities during the year, right?  You do send money to charity, don't you?  I try to do what I can with the little I have, and the Child's Play Charity is one organization that I always enjoy saving up something extra to support.  It's all about "gamers and geeks around the world" raising huge donations of toys, games and cash for Children's Hospitals all over the world.  Extremely cool, I think you'd agree.

This year I'm even more stoked about this charity since some local game developer friends of mine helped put our local hospital on the map for donations!  Yay!  Now, I can donate directly to my local Denver Children's Hospital !  Again, the coolness is extreme.

This is a very, very well-known charity by now, so don't worry about fraud here.  You actually don't have to send them money directly (unless you want to), since you visit Amazon.com and order items from the charity's wish list.  The gifts are sent directly to the chosen hospital!  Go to the official Child's Play Charity site for more info.

This year is also very special since they've added hospitals in Canada and in Liverpool!  I know we have a lot of visitors from across the pond, so maybe you'll find this a little more close to home than previous years.  There are 21 hospitals in all (so far), which just flat rocks.  I'm excited to see how much is raised this year.  Help out the kids, eh??

Cheesy Paddle Bricks game screenshot

[update 11/30/05: Added "save score" button at end. MUST be logged in to site before the score saving will do anything for you.]

Finally, a new game!  Yeah, I know I promised new games long ago... blah, blah.  Here's a new twist on an old favorite from the old days of Pointless Games.  The previous version was a paddle brick-type game done in Shockwave.  You smack a ball around with a paddle and take out all the bricks... you know the drill.

Account registration info E-mail
Flash Game Post News - Site News

Another quick note about new user registration... I'm noticing a lot of folks who are signing up for new user accounts and they haven't been activated.  This means you're likely not getting or not seeing your confirmation email from us.  Since almost all new account email addresses are at services like Hotmail, AOL, Juno and the like, I'm guessing your spam filters are syphoning my email away into near-oblivion.

So, if you've registered for a new account and you didn't receive a confirmation email (assuming you used a good email address), make sure to look in your "spam" or "junk" email folder to see if it got tagged as junk mail.  If you don't know how to do this, read up on the help docs for your respective email service.  This is called a "false positive" and you should be able to look through your spam folder and retrieve my email.

Aside from that... I'm going to head over right now and re-write the confirmation email to see if I can get this to stop happening so frequently.

Thanks for registering and please be patient as help get you in the system.  Tongue out

Real email addresses required for registration E-mail

Just a quick note to point out that user registration is not something you can bluff your way through.  Don't worry about getting spam from me or any of that nonsense.  If you don't use a real addy, you'll not receive the confirmation email with the new account activation link... that's pretty important-sounding, eh?  Well it is!

Also, if you signed up for a new account and haven't received an email yet, be sure to check your spam folders, especially if you use a free email service or ISP service.  You should be able to look in a spam folder to see if my email got syphoned out.  I'll work on revising the content of these messages to be try minimizing that junk soon.  For now, sorry for the hassle.

So, come on and register so you can get your high scores saved when those games come online!  I'm sure there will be other reasons to have an account, but that's not something I'm going to share with you right now.

Pointless Dharma Initiative clock E-mail

Pointless Dharma Initiative countdown clock I couldn't resist this great idea my friend Gloobert had about a Pointless Games version of the Dharma Initiative countdown clock most of you have been seeing on the TV show "Lost".  Sure, this is a very early version of what we're planning on making, but it'll do fine for now.  After all, until I get more time to make some games (and convert my old classics like Gold Digger, Space Rock Shooting Thing and The Idiot Button,) the flash game arcade is a bit quiet right now.

Anyhoo, go try out the Pointless Dharma Initiative, Part 0.1 and see what ya think.  I know it's not much to behold quite yet, but we're talking very little development time here.  I'll get it buffed up soon.

Operative term to remember here is "pointless".
